Johnny Borrell - Borrell 1 album download

Jonathan Edward Borrell (born 4 April 1980 in Sutton, London) is an English guitarist and singer, currently the front-man of the band Razorlight. Borrell's father, New Zealand-born John Borrell, was a war correspondent; his mother was a primary school teacher in Tottenham. His parents divorced when he was young. Borrell lived at Highgate, where he attended Highgate School.

Johnny Borrell - 'Borrell 1'. There’s no greater measure of human fallibility than the people we damned because they were right. Joan Of Arc? Burned at the stake. Nelson Mandela? Impris. The album features no drums, no bass and only minimal guitar, but enough saxophone to make you wonder if he’s recently lost a bet of some sort. Yet while its strangeness is its greatest strength, it can’t mask Borrell’s tendency towards soupy balladry (‘Ladder To Your Bed’, ‘Dahlia Rondo’) or his affected working-class heroism ( Go to Africa and build a school, goes his privately educated sneer on the absurd ‘Cyrano Masochiste’, After all, that’s what you people do )

Following his band’s recent hiatus, Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell has confirmed that he’ll release his first solo record next month – entitled Borrell 1. The LP, the singer’s first studio album for five years, will come out on 22 July via Stiff Records/Virgin EMI. Borrell said of the release: The music just came very naturally. It’s an album that was born in the spirit of a party, and the arrangements for the songs come from that atmosphere. Its full tracklisting is as below: Power To The Woman.

From Noisey:The Libertines were genuinely brilliant. Death On The Stairs was one of the great songs of that whole decade

As ever with Borrell, it's never less than weirdly, grippingly fascinating.
