Mad Shadows was the second album by Mott the Hoople. Cole relocated to the United Kingdom in the early 1970s, where he released his debut album, If the Music Stops (1972), which provided two singles. The second one, "The King Is Dead", was written by Cole under the name, Branko Bernard Miler
