Time Machines is a 1998 album by English experimental group Coil, originally released under the alias Time Machines. The album was created under the premise of drones named after hallucinogenic chemicals, "tested and retested" in the studio for apparent narcotic potency. Main member John Balance also described the album as an attempt to create "temporal slips".
Perkie is a punk singer/songwriter unlike any other out there. An incredibly diverse performer, Perkie is just as capable of playing on her own with a keyboard as she is with The Perkettes – an indie-punk backing band featuring members of the Tuts and Colour Me Wednesday – and, after years of honing her craft, she has now released her debut album and could well be destined for big things. Inspired by everyone from Kate Nash to Against Me! and Kathleen Hanna, ‘Time Machines’ is a defiant slice of indie pop with punk rock, dub and anti-folk sensibilities.

Beyond what classic hippies say, 'Time Machines' is some real mindfuckery. It's a subliminal drone that intends to 'time travel' the listener by forcing two frequencies between each ear and reproducing another unnatural subsonic frequency above. The latter is unnatural because it cannot be be picked up by your ears in a distinct manner, instead, these binaural drones create a constant wave which is only found.
