If Ween wanted to create an album consisting entirely of something different they they've both reached their ultimate goal and at the same time stood by their van. The roots of Ween are still sprinkled like paprika throughout, not as effective as you'd think but y'know a little red never hurt anybody. Formidable as they are with the band thing, Ween did perhaps give in to what was expected of them. However they tried as best they could to avoid that. Prime examples of just that would most defenitely fall under songs like "If You Could Save Yourself " and "The Argus". These flowing masterpieces ask of the listener just what is the music supposed to be saying" A question of such magnitude won't have an answer after your first listen. Ween's Quebec is likely to stay in your CD player, or looping on your MP3 player for days to come after you get your hands on it.

Reaching Dean Ween by phone, Rolling Stone finds the guitarist and songwriter in a world of pain. I got stung by a hornet just about 10 minutes ago, he says. I’ve been stung by a million bees, but a hornet is a whole different level of the game. Melchiondo began the album during Ween’s hiatus, which began with bandmate Aaron Freeman’s sudden resignation in May 2012. While the guitarist had never given much thought to a solo record, he did have a general concept in mind. I knew what I wanted to accomplish, in the event I ever made a Dean Ween record, he explains. When you’re waking up, we’re fucking in our prime. It’s about night owls.

Ween did eventually return to the road, playing select festivals and one-offs through the end of 2011, but this past January brought news of Marvelous Clouds, a Freeman solo record featuring material by the poet-songwriter Rod McKuen. Once the publicity cycle for that album kicked in, things started getting weird. In May, Freeman called The Onion from rehab, stating that he was ready to put on the back burner. Later that month, he made a definitive proclamation to Rolling Stone: I’m retiring Gene Ween. Disbelief and increasingly sordid online infighting ensued, and as the situation.
